The Chandigarh Administration has emphasized the need to develop the city’s forest area into a premier centre for nature education, with a focus on environmental awareness, biodiversity conservation, and experiential learning. The direction was given by the Administrator during a recent review of green initiatives aimed at strengthening ecological education and public engagement.
Speaking on the importance of environmental stewardship, officials said the proposed vision seeks to transform the city forest into a dynamic learning space for students, researchers, nature enthusiasts, and visitors. The initiative is expected to combine conservation efforts with educational activities, helping people better understand local ecosystems and wildlife.
According to administrative sources, plans under consideration include the creation of interpretive trails, information centres, guided nature walks, and interactive learning modules.
