Zirakpur: The Health Department has launched a special anti-diarrhoea campaign in Dhakoli after officials detected three cases of diarrhoea in the area. The move aims to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases and raise awareness about hygiene and safe drinking water during the monsoon season.

Health teams have started door-to-door visits to identify suspected cases and educate residents about preventive measures. Officials are advising people to drink clean water, maintain proper sanitation, and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms such as vomiting, loose motions, or dehydration appear.

As part of the campaign, health workers are distributing Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) packets and providing information on maintaining personal and household hygiene. Authorities have also intensified surveillance in the affected locality to ensure that no new cases go undetected.

Officials said they are collecting water samples from different locations in Dhakoli to check for possible contamination. The department has urged residents to boil drinking water and avoid consuming food from unhygienic sources until the situation remains fully under control.

The Health Department has assured residents that the three affected individuals are receiving appropriate medical care. Officials continue to monitor the area closely and have appealed to the public to cooperate with health teams during the awareness and prevention drive.

The campaign forms part of the department’s broader efforts to curb seasonal diseases and protect public health during periods of increased risk.
