Farmers suspend Kisan Bhawan president amid allegations of secret trust registration
Members of farmer groups in Panipat have suspended the president of Kisan Bhawan. They accuse him of registering a trust without their approval. This decision was made during an emergency meeting, where farmers said this was done to bring the farmer-run institution under control.
Farmers claim the trust was created without their knowledge or input. They say this is, against the organisations way of working. They stress that Kisan Bhawan was built by farmers and should stay under their ownership and management.
After the meeting a seven-member committee was formed to look into these allegations. The committee asked those accused to explain themselves by July 14. They will decide on action after that.
Kisan Bhawan president Dilbag Binjhol denies the allegations. He calls them false. Says they are motivated by politics. The farmer groups say he and others named in the matter were invited to attend the meeting and present their side. However they did not show up.
