It is a difficult summer time for Haryana with temperatures in many districts surpassing the 45 degree mark, which is making it difficult for people to lead normal lives in the state.
The high temperatures have slowed down things. The roads are less bustling during the day when most people stay indoors to escape the extreme heat. However, for those who can’t afford it, such as farmers, labourers and street vendors, the heat is starting to get uncomfortable.
Simple measures such as plenty of water, head coverings and staying in on blockbuster afternoons are recommended. Cases of fatigue and dehydration are also being reported as the heat continues to rise.
The need seems even greater in rural areas. Farmers in open fields are on-site and directly exposed to the sun, and the lack of water is starting to take its toll on soil conditions. Many are now looking towards the skies, hoping for some relief.
Finally, some good news. Weather officials have predicted rain and thunderstorms from May 29, which could bring temperatures down and make the weather more bearable. As long as a few hours of rain, even that will be welcome after the days of sweltering temperatures.
If the prediction holds true, the next few days could be a breath of fresh air for everyone, and they will be able to resume their daily lives. Meanwhile residents are being advised to keep themselves safe and take precautions during this extreme heat.
