The Haryana government has revised reservation rules for ex-servicemen and their dependents in state government jobs. The new policy aims to make recruitment more transparent and ensure fair distribution of quota benefits. It also gives greater priority to disabled veterans.
Under the revised rules, only one member of an ex-servicemen family can generally avail reservation benefits in government recruitment. Officials say this step will prevent multiple claims from the same household and create opportunities for more eligible families across the state.
The government has placed disabled ex-servicemen at the top of the priority list. Veterans who suffered disabilities during military service will receive first preference for reserved posts. If no eligible disabled veteran is available, authorities will consider other qualified ex-servicemen and their dependents according to the prescribed order.
Officials believe the new guidelines will simplify the recruitment process and remove confusion during appointments. The policy also provides a uniform framework for departments, boards and public institutions handling recruitment.
The state has consistently introduced measures to support former armed forces personnel after their retirement from service. Veteran welfare groups have often called for reforms that improve employment opportunities while ensuring fairness in the reservation system.
All future recruitments under the ex-servicemen category will follow the revised guidelines. The government expects the changes to improve transparency, strengthen administrative efficiency and provide better support to Haryana’s veteran community.
