HRTC Strike Called Off
Thousands of commuters across Himachal Pradesh have received a major relief. The proposed indefinite strike by HRTC drivers and conductors has been called off after successful talks between union representatives and the state government.
The strike was expected to disrupt bus services across the state. However, both sides agreed to continue discussions on salary revisions, overtime payments, promotions, and service conditions.
As a result, HRTC buses are expected to operate normally. This will ensure smooth travel for thousands of daily passengers.
High Court Refuses to Quash Corruption Case
In another important development, the Himachal Pradesh High Court has refused to quash a corruption case registered in 2016.
The court said that delays in trial proceedings cannot be the only reason to close a serious criminal case. The matter involves alleged irregularities in the purchase of municipal waste containers in Dharamshala.
The ruling reinforces that corruption cases should be decided on evidence and legal merits instead of procedural delays.
Monsoon Rain Alert Across Himachal
Meanwhile, weather remains a major concern across the state. Monsoon activity is expected to strengthen over the coming days.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several districts may receive moderate to heavy rainfall.
Officials have advised residents and tourists to stay cautious while travelling through hilly areas. Landslides, slippery roads, and flash floods remain possible during heavy rainfall.
Popular tourist destinations such as Shimla, Kullu, Manali, Chamba, and Kangra are also likely to receive intermittent showers.
Pension Arrears to Be Released in July
The Himachal Pradesh government has reaffirmed that pending arrears for pre-2016 pensioners will be released from July 2026.
The announcement is expected to benefit thousands of retired government employees. Pensioners’ associations have welcomed the decision and hope that payments will begin on schedule.
Authorities Prepare for Monsoon Season
District administrations have intensified preparations for the monsoon season.
Public Works Department teams, disaster management authorities, and local officials have been instructed to keep emergency equipment and response teams ready.
Their priority is to restore roads and essential public services quickly if heavy rain or landslides disrupt normal life.
Residents are advised to follow official weather bulletins and avoid unnecessary travel in vulnerable hill areas during periods of heavy rainfall.
