Punjab is once again grappling with scorching temperatures as a fresh heatwave sweeps across the state, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a Yellow Alert. Several districts have recorded temperatures above 44°C, with Bathinda emerging as one of the hottest locations in the state.

The soaring temperatures have led authorities to advise residents to take precautions, especially during peak afternoon hours when heat exposure can pose serious health risks. People have been urged to stay hydrated, avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, and take special care of children, the elderly, and those with existing health conditions.

The IMD has warned that heatwave conditions are likely to persist over the next few days, keeping temperatures well above normal levels. The prolonged spell of extreme heat has increased concerns about dehydration, heat exhaustion, and other heat-related illnesses.

The rising temperatures are also impacting daily life, with increased demand for electricity as households and businesses rely heavily on cooling appliances. Farmers, outdoor workers, and commuters are among those facing the greatest challenges due to the harsh weather conditions.

Health experts have advised people to wear light-colored clothing, drink plenty of fluids, and avoid direct sunlight during the hottest parts of the day. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged citizens to follow official weather advisories.

With summer at its peak, residents across Punjab are hoping for relief through pre-monsoon showers and a gradual improvement in weather conditions in the coming weeks.
