In a major welfare initiative aimed at strengthening women’s financial independence, the Punjab Government will launch the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna from July 1, under which eligible women across the state will receive monthly financial assistance directly in their bank accounts. The scheme is one of the flagship promises of the Bhagwant Mann-led government and is expected to benefit a vast majority of women in Punjab.

Under the scheme, eligible women will receive ₹1,000 per month, while women belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category will be entitled to ₹1,500 per month. The financial assistance will be transferred through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system to ensure transparency and timely payments.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann recently reviewed preparations for the rollout and described the programme as a significant step towards enhancing women’s dignity, self-reliance, and participation in household and economic decision-making. The state government has allocated approximately ₹9,300 crore for the implementation of the scheme and estimates that nearly 97 percent of Punjab’s women will benefit from it.

Registration for the scheme is already underway across the state. Around two lakh Mahila Satkar Sakhis have been deployed to assist applicants. Women can register through Anganwadi Centres, Sewa Kendras, and other designated centres identified by district administrations. Beneficiaries of existing social security pension schemes will also be eligible under the programme.

The government believes the initiative will provide financial security to women and contribute to greater social and economic empowerment across Punjab.
