Foundation stone ceremony for a new Mother & Child Hospital in Sunam, Punjab, highlighting healthcare infrastructure development and maternal-child medical services.

Punjab took another major step toward strengthening its healthcare infrastructure as officials laid the foundation stone for a new Mother & Child Hospital in Sunam. The state government will develop the project at an estimated cost of ₹14.5 crore, aiming to provide high-quality medical services for women and children in the region.

The foundation ceremony took place at the Sunam Civil Hospital, where local leaders and officials highlighted the importance of the project. They described the hospital as a significant healthcare gift for the residents of Sunam and nearby areas, ensuring better access to specialized maternal and pediatric care.

According to officials, the upcoming facility will feature modern medical infrastructure, advanced diagnostic equipment, and dedicated maternity and child healthcare units. The hospital will offer comprehensive services, including prenatal care, safe deliveries, neonatal treatment, pediatric consultations, and postnatal support under one roof.

The project reflects the Punjab government’s continued focus on improving public healthcare and expanding access to quality medical services across the state. Once completed, the Mother & Child Hospital will reduce the burden on existing healthcare facilities and provide timely treatment for mothers and newborns closer to their homes.

The new hospital is expected to enhance maternal and child health outcomes while supporting the government’s vision of building a stronger and more accessible healthcare system for every citizen.
