Chandigarh, July 24, 2026 – The Punjab Government’s Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana is witnessing overwhelming participation from women across the state, with the number of beneficiaries now crossing the 70 lakh mark. What started with a target of around 52 lakh has far exceeded expectations, showing just how widely the scheme has been accepted.

The surge in registrations has been particularly noticeable over the past two months. In July alone, nearly 37 lakh women signed up, while June saw around 33 lakh new registrations. Despite already reaching impressive numbers, the government continues to keep registrations open, allowing more eligible women to benefit.

The scheme has seen strong participation across most parts of Punjab. Out of 117 assembly constituencies, 66 have recorded over 50,000 beneficiaries each. Jalalabad leads the list with more than 87,000 registrations, followed closely by Sanour. Even in Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s constituency, Dhuri, over 63,000 women have enrolled. On the other hand, Ludhiana West has reported the lowest number of registrations so far.

Under this initiative, the government provides monthly financial support of ₹1,000 to women from the general category and ₹1,500 to women from Scheduled Caste communities. The aim is to ease financial burdens and promote greater economic independence among women.

Earlier this month, on July 1, the government transferred the first installment—covering three months from July to September—directly into the bank accounts of nearly 33 lakh women. So far, a total of ₹1,149 crore has been released under the scheme.

With participation continuing to rise, the Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana is quickly becoming one of Punjab’s most impactful welfare initiatives, strengthening financial support systems for women across the state.
