The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has awarded a contract for the special repair and upgradation of the Sector 51–52 service road, bringing relief to thousands of daily commuters using this busy corridor. The project aims to improve road quality, reduce traffic congestion, enhance pedestrian safety, and strengthen drainage facilities before the monsoon season.
The 2.1-kilometre stretch along the Sector 51–52 dividing master road will undergo extensive improvement work and is expected to be completed within six months. The project includes strengthening the existing road surface, repairing damaged sections, and improving overall connectivity for residents and motorists.
Along with road repairs, GMDA will upgrade pedestrian infrastructure by repairing footpaths and installing safety features such as protective grills and improved road markings. The authority will also focus on improving stormwater drainage to reduce waterlogging issues during heavy rainfall.
As part of the drainage improvement plan, adjoining green belt areas will be modified at suitable locations to allow better rainwater flow, natural absorption, and groundwater recharge. New signage and other road safety measures will also be added to create a safer commuting environment.
The upgrade is expected to improve daily travel for residents of nearby sectors and provide smoother movement on one of Gurugram’s important internal road corridors.
