A significant breakthrough has emerged in the Chandigarh cashier murder case, with investigators claiming that the shooters were allegedly instructed to target a man wearing spectacles at the cash counter and not Janaki Das, who was ultimately killed in the attack. The development has introduced a possible mistaken-identity angle to the ongoing investigation.
The incident occurred at a business establishment in Chandigarh, where Janaki Das, employed as a cashier, was shot dead by armed assailants. The murder had sparked a major police investigation, leading to the arrest of several suspects and the examination of potential links to organised criminal networks.
According to investigators, evidence gathered during the probe suggests that the assailants had been directed to identify and shoot a specific individual reportedly seated at the cash counter and wearing spectacles. Police allege that due to confusion during the execution of the plan, Janaki Das became the victim instead of the intended target.
