Haryana Gears Up for Future Power Needs, Targets Near-Zero Electricity Losses

With the emergence of new industries, development of the cities and new digital infrastructure in Haryana, the electricity demand is likely to see a sharp increment in the near future. In this context, Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has urged the state power companies to strive for zero loss of transmission and distribution, so that all electricity generated reaches consumers with minimal loss.

Khattar pointed out the need to create a more robust and intelligent power grid during a review meeting of the power sector recently. He called on the authorities to modernize power distribution infrastructure and use advanced technologies, along with enhancing the overall efficiency of power distribution in the State.

The power loss in the transmission and distribution network has been a problem for power utilities in the country for long. In addition to the impact on the quality of supply, these losses also can have a financial impact on the utility company. This will create service reliability and reduce the losses by optimising the use of its energy resources in Haryana.

The minister said that the rapid pace of development of the state has given rise to new challenges and opportunities for Haryana. The pressure on the power network is likely to continue to rise as more industries establish businesses, more people move into the city and per capita electricity use continues to rise within households.

Officials have been tasked to upgrade transmission lines, enhance substations, and enhance grid management systems in preparation for this future demand. There will also be an increased emphasis on using technology and real-time monitoring to preempt problems before they become a cause of power outages.

It is believed that the efficient power network will be good for all people, including households, farmers, businesses and industries. Electricity is not only a part of everyday life, but it is also a key determinant in attracting investments and driving economic development.

The attention given to minimise loss of power and enhance infrastructure could be a vital step in guaranteeing uninterrupted and sustainable energy supply for Haryana in the future, as the state strives to become more digitally advanced and industrially developed.
