Bank Holiday Tomorrow: Banks to Remain Closed in Several States for Bakrid

Banks in several states across India will remain closed tomorrow, May 28, on the occasion of Bakrid, also known as Eid-ul-Adha or Id-ul-Zuha. The holiday is part of the Reserve Bank of India’s official bank holiday calendar. However, the closure will not be applicable nationwide, as bank holidays in India vary from state to state depending on local festivals and observances.

According to reports, banks in states including Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Bihar, Goa, and Puducherry are expected to remain closed on Thursday for Bakrid celebrations. In some regions, the holiday was observed on Wednesday, May 27, depending on moon sighting and local government notifications. Customers are advised to confirm the holiday status with their nearest bank branch before planning any visits.

Despite the closure of physical branches, digital banking services will continue to operate without interruption. Customers can still access internet banking, mobile banking, ATMs, UPI transactions, and other online payment services during the holiday. Banking experts have also advised people to complete important branch-related work, cheque clearances, or cash withdrawals in advance to avoid inconvenience.

Along with banks, stock markets including the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) are also expected to remain closed tomorrow in observance of Bakrid.

Bakrid is one of the most important festivals celebrated by the Muslim community and symbolizes sacrifice, devotion, and charity. The festival is marked by special prayers, charitable activities, and family gatherings across the country.
